Autonomous Region of Galicia
The Galicia Autonomous Region is part of a proposal for a Ukrainian federal state to be created as part of the Federalisation of Ukraine. Like a federal State of Germany[wp], the autonomous region would be an additional federal structure between larger administrative districts (oblasts[wp]) and the central power in Kiev[wp].
Region
The hypothetical autonomous state part of the Galicia Autonomous Region is to be formed from the five oblasts of Volyn[wp], Rivne[wp], Lviv[wp], Ternopil[wp] and Ivano-Frankivsk[wp].
Status
The Autonomous Region of Galicia would have a status similar to that of the Autonomous Republic of Odesa, with the difference that the Autonomous Region of Galicia would be a union of five oblasts.
History
The name of the Autonomous Region of Galicia is based on the historical region of Galicia[wp] with its capital Lviv[wp].
