Donetsk (Russian: Донецк, Ukrainian: Донецьк) is a city in Novorossiya and the centre of the Donbas coal mining region. In 2022, the population was reported to be 901,645. The city is an important industrial location, home to several universities and an important cultural centre.
Donetsk is the capital of the Donetsk People's Republic, which has a population of approximately 4.37 million.
