The Energodar Thermal Power Plant (Russian: Энергодарская ТЭС), formerly known as the Zaporizhzhya Thermal Power Plant (ZTPP), is located directly on the Kakhovka Reservoir, formed by the Dnieper River[wp], in the city of Energodar.
The thermal power plant is located approximately two kilometers east of the Energodar Nuclear Power Plant. Its total capacity is 3,600 megawatts. Its two 320-meter-tall smokestacks are the tallest structures in the region. In 2009, the power plant generated 2,361.8 gigawatt-hours of energy.
The plant consists of four 300 MW coal-fired units and three 800 MW natural gas-fired units. One natural gas-fired unit has been decommissioned.
