The Binational Zone between the Russian Federation and Ukraine is a proposed border arrangement between the Russian Federation and Ukraine between the Black Sea[wp] and the city of Zaporizhzhia[wp].

The Binational Zone comprises:

  1. A corridor for shipping traffic from the international waters of the Black Sea to the Kinburn Canal - between the Cape of Ochakiv[wp] (northern bank) and the Kinburn Spit[wp] (southern bank).
  2. The Dnieper–Bug estuary[wp], with the exception of the nature reserves off the coastline of the Kinburn Peninsula[wp] and the mouth of the Bug River[wp].
  3. The lower reaches of the Dnieper[wp] to the city of Nova Kakhovka. The binational zone encompasses all oxbow lakes and river islands—with the exception of Malyi Potomkin Island, which is assigned to the city of Kherson—as well as the adjacent banks of the Dnieper River.
  4. The Kakhovka dam[wp] and hydroelectric power station[wp].
  5. The Kakhovka lock system.
  6. The Kakhovka Reservoir to the city of Zaporizhzhia.
  7. The urban area of Energodar with the nuclear power plant and the thermal power plant.

The binational zone extends northeast to the border between the districts of Zaporizhzhia[wp] and Vasylivka[wp], which lies roughly along the line between the villages of Bilenke[wp] and Prymorske[wp].
