The term kink (nounisation of the adjective 'kinky'[wikt] for 'abnormal', 'perverse' or 'twisted', literal translation 'perversion' or 'deviation') refers collectively to all variations of "bizarre eroticism".
In the BDSM scene, it is used as a generic term for all relevant types of play or sexual preferences and has a positive connotation, whereby the original negative meaning is deliberately ironised when used accordingly.
Lovers of kink also call themselves kinksters.
