The catchphrase Schrödinger's feminist (a portmanteau of the phrase Schrödinger's cat[wp] in the sense of the coexistence of two normally mutually exclusive states and the term feminist) refers to the possibility granted to women by feminists to choose at any time, at their own discretion and to their own advantage, between the state of emancipation on the one hand and the status of victim on the other, without a final decision in favor of one of the two options.

Examples of use

Quote: «A woman is simultaneously a victim and empowered, until something happens. Then she chooses which state benefits her the most.

A typical case of Schrödinger's Feminist as the women were allowed the choice to flee Ukraine and the men were made to stay and fight against Russia.» - Urbans Dictionary[1]

Quote: «So is your view of feminism that it is pointless because there can never be egalitarianism? Well, so just earlier. No offense. I'm just going to point this out so that you know, he spoke out of two sides of your mouth. You said, I don't believe that men would collectively come together to use some kind of force against women. But when I asked, "Why would you need feminism?", then you said, well, because we need to have some kind of force to protect ourselves from the patriarchy. Well, both of these things cannot be true at the same time. This is where we come to what we call Schrödinger's Feminist, which is "I'm a strong empowered woman, but also a victim at the same exact time." So what's really going on is you're fighting the patriarchy by at the same time appealing to it because they're going to be the enforcers, right?

I can agree with that. I don't think it's good. I don't-

So why not just have patriarchy. If that's the case, that you're appealing to it anyway in order to enforce your rights inside of it, why not just submit to patriarchy?»[2]

Quote: «Schrödinger's Feminist are a specific type of feminist who have a double standard. Anything in society where men hold dominance is evidence of an oppressive tyrannical patriarchy and men should be demonized, meanwhile anywhere where women hold the upper ground (college education, etc) is proof women are superior and thus should be encouraged. Success of women is praised while decline of men is laughed at. Notable examples include Liza Mundy and Hanna Rosin, some may also include Élisabeth Badinter.

Friend 1: can you believe this article? It says that male dominance in engineering and computer science is a sign of discrimination while boys struggling in school is a sign of male incompetence.

Friend 2: That’s how a Schrödinger's Feminist talks, dude.» - Urban Dictionary[3]
